12/15/2018 Skillful/Masters 2018-2019 Calendar
The SKILLFULS coaches are all accomplished, passionate ski teachers, with many years of coaching experience. All are PSIA certified with great skiing credentials, and most with the highest level of PSIA certification attainable. Best of all, they are all fellow members at the Club. Following is a brief snippet of each coach.
Bryan Hopkins (PSIA Certification Level III) Bryan is also a USSA Certified Alpine Coach and Certified Alpine Official. He has over 25 years of coaching experience in the east and far west regions. Here at Killington he coached athletes aged 10 through 18 for 12 years with the KSC/KMS Development Programs as his sons were coming up the ranks and has spent the last 5 years working with adults in the KSC Skillfuls Program. Several of the athletes he coached went on to achieve success with the US Ski Team. Almost all of his athletes continued on to compete in top collegiate programs at the NCAA Division 1 level, and in the USCSA ranks with one recently becoming a Warren Miller Films athlete as well. Bryan is focused on improving the overall technical skiing and racing skills of the higher-level participants in our Skillfuls Program. He will help you become a more efficient and dynamic skier in all conditions from big mountain powder chutes, to bumps, to off piste backcountry, to hard ice conditions and also in the race course.
Doug Paulding (PSIA Certification Level I, USSA Alpine Coach) brings abundant energy to a "follow me" approach. Has coached skiing and ski racing in VT, MA, NY and CT since the 70's. He pushes the boundaries of high speed skiing, carving, bumps and jumps, on the most difficult (and sometimes the easiest) terrain on the mountain.
Nancy McGrath (PSIA Alpine CertifictionLevel )II with a Child Specialist 2 endorsement and 30+ years teaching and coaching skiing at Mohawk, Okemo and the KSC Skillfuls program. PSIA clinics and freeskiing with friends in New England, out West, Europe and South America keep it fresh and challenging. Keeping up with her ex-racer daughter is an added incentive.
Nancy leads her group of open parallel, athletic skiers to more dynamic, advanced skiing through a combination of terrain exploration, technical skill development and individualized movement analysis and goal setting. Join her if you want to go beyond the blues to ski blacks, bumps and trees with greater confidence and skill in an encouraging and fun environment.
George de Luna (PSIA Certification Level II) George has been a committed skier for many years, and a season pass holder at Killington since 1990. He is an all mountain skier who likes to master all terrain in all conditions. George has skied with 3 of the 4 people pictured in the club, Chuck Martin, Bobby Aldeghari and Donna Weinbrecht as well as Doug Combes and Scott Schmidt. I have skied all over the world including South America, New Zealand, Europe and Canada as well as all over the USA. He loves to ski and use skills as well as tactics to master the mountain. He is a telemark skier and a beginner snowboarder.
