Accomplished, Passionate Ski Teachers
The SKILLFULS coaches are all accomplished, passionate ski teachers, with many years of coaching experience.
All are PSIA certified with great skiing credentials, and most with the highest level of PSIA certification attainable. Best of all, they are all fellow members at the Club.
Following is a brief snippet of each coach.
Nancy has been a KSC Skillfuls coach for 20 years. PSIA Alpine Level 2, Children’s Specialist 2 Certified. Instructed at Mohawk and for the past 30 years at Okemo where she specializes in teaching women’s clinics, advanced children’s groups, and family private lessons. She loves to share her joy and knowledge of alpine skiing with her guests to help them identify and achieve their goals for that “ah hah” moment anywhere on the mountain: corduroy, east coast firm, steeps, powder, trees, or moguls.
Nancy brings high energy to her group for fun, comradery, and skill building. She provides individual coaching on the chair and lots of guided and free skiing on the hill.
Nancy is a retired high school French teacher who loves biking, travel, house projects, and spending time with her two granddaughters.
The newest member of the Skillfuls team, Chris comes to KSC with many years of experience coaching the high-end skier. He was a ski instructor at Aspen Mountain for 10 years and is known to ski 150 days per season. Involved in local Aspen ski racing, his team was champion 3 years in a row. Chris is PSIA Level 2 certified currently, however he has completed many of the requirements of Level 3 and will finish that certification this season. Fully committed to Killington now, his interests are skiing bumps, racing, steep terrain, powder and trees. He looks forward to sharing his passion for skiing with Skillfuls students, by challenging them and interjecting some humor and fun along the way. Ski with Chris, and your technique and confidence will surely improve.
Chris has been a manufacturer’s representative in the marine industry. Recently retired, he plans to be a consultant. He loves to spend time with his wife Hope and their 2 daughters, one grandbaby and one on the way. He loves caring for his dog and 2 horses, which his wife competes in hunter-jumper competition.
Pam, with 30+ years in PSIA, Level II and Children’s Specialist 2, and 40+ years teaching/coaching skiing at Brodie, Gore, Sunday River and Killington. She is now in her second year with Skillfulls. She is quite familiar with getting skiers past being intermediate and it has been said that she has “the patience of a Saint.” Formerly Team Lead for Killington’s Learn-To-Ski Program and named one of Ski Magazine’s Top 100 ski instructors.Pam’s focus extends beyond how to blend the 5 fundamental skills to get you “next level” by overcoming the mental barriers keeping you from those steep blues, blacks and easier moguls.
Skiing is a kinesthetic, moving sport and a lifestyle, so less talking/teaching and more skiing/coaching.
Pam is a retired attorney. She is a motorcycle instructor, dog lover, and adventurer. She loves to spend time with her 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren.
The newly minted Director of the Skillfuls program, Sandy has been a Skillfuls coach for 24 years, and a ski instructor for even longer. PSIA Certified level 3. Instructed at Blue Hills, Sugarbush and Killington. Coached a high school race team and enjoys participating in local ski bum races. A carver at heart, she loves bumps, woods, steeps and powder as well. Skill and confidence building help her students improve their enjoyment of the sport. Individual movement analysis, video and fun group activities are the hallmark of her lessons.
Sandy is a part-time Nurse-Practitioner, and a former Midwife. She enjoys hiking, water sports, reading, yoga, pilates and biking. Mostly, she loves family time with husband Dave, 2 kids and 3 grandkids plus a loving golden retriever.
Dmitri has been a great asset to the Skillfuls program for 4 years and has a loyal following He is PSIA Level 3 Certified. Ski instructor experience spans the globe with his private lessons in Austria, Germany and France.
Dmitri loves bumps and trees and everything available on the mountain. His moto is: “If you want to improve, you should drill three times more than you play.” Main goals for skiing involve efficient technical skiing on any terrain and in any conditions.
Dmitri is a concert flautist who has won 2 international chamber music competitions in Italy and Israel. He performs classical music all over the world. He runs 3 music schools. His wife Luba is a concert pianist. Dmitri loves spending time with his family, including a grandbaby.
Laura is PSIA Level 2 Certified. She has been a ski instructor for 15 years, with experience at Mohawk, Catamount, and KSC. Two seasons with Skillfuls, Laura has focused on the intermediate skier. By practicing specific tasks on green and blue terrain, she works on building confidence and skiing fundamentals.
Laura is in tune to each of her students by adapting her lessons to their individual learning style. Additionally, she makes her classes fun!
She is an accounting controller in the construction industry. Mountain biking, golf, tennis, sailing, hiking, music events, and being a proud dog owner take up the rest of her time!
